I think I’ve driven by this place over 100 times but never really noticed it. The store front is pretty inconspicuous and if you weren’t looking for it you probably would probably pass it up it as well. So now you all know, hit it up now!
First impressions of this place, it really reminded me of everything else in the area…super hipster. The inside has crazy crap all over the walls and hanging from the ceiling as well as the smell of incense (I think its from some nearby stores). But don’t get too distracted cuz the line moves relatively quick compared to the sandwich spots down in Pioneer Square. When I came here it seemed everyone was eating the same thing…some sandwich that came with au jus dipping sauce (aka the Gooch sandwich). So of course I went for it (along with a pint of the daily cheap beer…2 Beers Pale Ale). The sandwich was about $8.50 and the beer was $3.50, for a grand total of about $12. I also saw a BBQ chicken sandwich on the menu that sounded pretty good (aka the Texas Tease) so I got that as a to go order.
The Gooch sandwich was pretty good on its own. It included well seasoned tri-tip beef, grilled red onions, cheddar cheese, and horseradish mayo. But when you dip that bad boy into that au jus it’s really something special. Some asju sauces can be really salty but this was right on the mark and was even a little spicy. The only minor complaint I had was there was a little bit too much horseradish sauce (definitely a sinus clearer).
As for the Texas teas I really enjoyed this one as well I don’t think it was the best barbecue chicken sandwich I’ve had but it was a solid sandwich nonetheless.
Seating here can be a little tough during lunch time. I came here on a Friday afternoon around 1 o’clock or so and even at this time the place have a line of about 8 people deep and every seat was taken. But no worries, by the time you end up ordering you can normally find a seat as the turnover is relatively quick. I did have to wait about 10 minutes after ordering to get my food but just enjoy your beer while you wait.
